Tom Ford Lip Colour – Violet Fatale Review
I am so excited! It’s my birthday today and I am loving all the lovely surprises coming my way – including this awesome birthday cake my hubby ordered for me! I am delighted and I am equally kicked about sharing this lovely lipstick with you – this is my birthday gift to self!! Ya…I am one of those people who gives gifts to herself!! Why wait for someone else to add joy to your life, when you can do it yourself! I had been thinking of the Tom Ford lipsticks for ages. Finally took the plunge and got one for myself for my birthday! And was this shade a YAY or NAY? Let’s find out:
Product Details:
To Tom Ford, there is no more dramatic accessory than a perfect lip. It is the focus of the face and it has the power to define a woman’s whole look. Each lip color is Tom Ford’s modern ideal of an essential makeup shade. Rare and exotic ingredients, including soja seed extract, Brazilian murumuru butter and chamomilla flower oil, create an ultra-creamy texture with an incredibly smooth application. Specially treated pigments are blended to deliver pure color with just the right balance of luminosity.

Packaging:
The packaging consists of a square dark brown tube with golden detailing and sharp edges. It is heavy and looks very class and luxe. The lipstick does not have a magnetic closure and has a regular twist up mechanism. The TF engraved on the lipstick bullet is absolute killer – it’s such a deterrent to using it!
My Experience with Tom Ford Lip Colour – Violet Fatale:
Color: The shade, Violet Fatale, is an intense violet in the tube, but on the lips, the shade is more muted violet with hints of pink and fuchsia in it! I find the colour very becoming and interestingly unique. Violets and purples generally wash me out and give me a sickly parlor, but this one just brightens up the face. There is no shimmer or glossiness, but the colour is absolutely vibrant. This shade again will suit most skin tones and look appealing.
Texture: The texture is lightweight and creamy. It glides on smoothly and feels nourishing/hydrating. The formula is very comfortable to wear – definitely of the finest I have come across. Reminds me of my Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks.
Pigmentation: This shade felt a bit lighter and sheerer than Wild Ginger. Look at the arm swatches – they are a single swipe of the product. Still, the shade is extremely pigmented – fully opaque in one swipe and 90-95% colour deposit in a single layer.
Initially, I felt bad that the colour was not true to the tube and you can’t even build it up to the colour in the tube, but I knew this before picking up the shade. And I am glad. Because I find the colour on the lips more appealing than the one in the tube.
Lasting Power: I got about 5.5 hours wear time post which it left a lovely pink stain which lasted another couple of hours and had to be taken off completely with a makeup remover.

My Birthday Cake 
LOVE LOVELOVE this one! The shade is fairly unique and so pretty. The quality is top notch! This one’s an absolute winner for me! I am loving it so much that the “TF” engraved on the lipstick is now barely visible! It breaks my heart to see it disappearing, but I adore the shade too much to not apply it! I think that’s the crux of buying a high end product – you should be able to love it and use it often. That is what will make it worth having bought! This today is the MOST EXPENSIVE lipstick in my stash and I intend to finish it.
